Kinesio Taping is a state of the art taping method used world wide. Recently the public has seen championship athletes such as Lance Armstrong, Serena Williams and Kerrie Walsh, the Olympic volleyball player, wearing the tape in order to enhance their performance. Taping is done over and around muscles and/or joints in order to assist in preventing overuse. In this way the tape has the ability to give support and functional assistance to an area while the patient still maintains full range of motion, and therefore can still participate in normal physical activities. In addition, Kinesio Taping is commonly used in the acute phase of rehabilitation as it helps prevent overuse of the injured area, as it facilitates lymph flow and healing of the area.
Kinesio Taping works by accelerating the healing process by triggering the bodies proprioceptive sense and increasing it for a specific area. Regardless of age, sex, or athletic level, all patients can benefit from this treatment. Please contact our office to find out more information and to see how Kinesio Taping can help you.
